Director of the National Counter-Terrorism Center United States will put his post after four years of
occupying that position. Officials said Thursday the National Counterterrorism Center Director Mike Leiter resigned. He is expected to resign in July.
Leiter rarely play a public role in the war on terror during oversees the agency, but President Barack Obama praised Leiter on an unshakeable determination.
Obama said Leiter put America in a stronger position to deal with terrorist threats at home and abroad.
Obama administration officials also said Leiter played a key role in drafting a new counterterrorism strategy. They say the new strategy set the broad campaign against al-Qaeda and other extremist groups.
They said the new strategy will likely be filed in the coming months.
